Project Overview

A REDD+ Avoided Planned Deforestation (APD) grouped project operating across private properties in Brazil’s Legal Amazon, avoiding legally planned forest clearing through long-term conservation agreements. Verified under Verra’s VCS and additionally certified to the Climate, Community & Biodiversity (CCB) Standards.

As a grouped project, new parcels can be added later if they meet eligibility criteria, under the same project umbrella.

Project Activities

  • Forest owners waive their legal right to clear “surplus” forest (often up to 80% of private Amazon land under Brazil’s Forest Code), maintaining intact forestation under long-term agreements.
  • The project has been verified for 3+ million tCO₂e avoided (2021–2022) and currently conserves over 30,000 hectares of rainforest.
  • Local activities include: Internet access infrastructure (towers, fiber optics); solar panels and digital inclusion in remote schools; health and education improvements, including school renovation and mobile clinics; and biodiversity monitoring and infrastructure upgrades across community sites.

Key Benefits

Climate

  • Verified carbon credits issued only after independent verification, representing real, additional, and monitored avoidance of emissions due to avoided deforestation.

Verified Social & Biodiversity Co-benefits

  • The CCB certification (which Verra-accredited programs require independent annual auditing) provides assurance that the project delivers on climate, community, and biodiversity goals—not just carbon.
  • The project also preserves habitat-rich primary and secondary Amazon forest, supporting biodiversity—including numerous endemic and threatened species.

Community Empowerment & Infrastructure

  • Delivers tangible community improvements—digital connectivity, education, health care, local economic training, and public infrastructure—benefiting dozens of forest‑dependent families.

Verified Transparency & Scaling

  • Operates under a rigorous accounting framework, with ongoing verification under VCS and CCB. More sites can be added as a grouped project evolves, maintaining consistent quality and oversight.

Buyers are supporting a project that actively protects vulnerable Amazon forest, providing verified carbon reductions, biodiversity protection, and community resilience, all under internationally recognized standards (VCS & CCB).
